| My Friend with her Sculpture Costume |
Welcome to the ball of the season! Art Ball this year was a huge success with many festivities celebrating the art students and faculty along with the celebration of the ASL building. As a new art building is soon to be fully made, we celebrate the history of ASL and represent sculpture, ceramics, and painting/drawing students. There were so many amazing works displayed and yummy foods. As an art student, I was able to display my own works in the ASL building and showcase my studio loft space with more works of mine. Two of the upper-division classes, Experimental Painting and Drawing and Advanced Painting had the opportunity to show the public what we had been working on all semester. The seniors showcased their final paintings at the Else and Witt gallery for the Senior Show. The sculpture students had the honor of parading through Sac State campus with a live band with the costumes they made for their final projects. This was my first time attending Art Ball and I had such a great time with my fellow colleagues and congratulating the graduates.

Being able to have more of my works displayed in my studio and having people be invited into the space where I work most of the time was a surreal moment for me. This was when I truly felt like an artist.

The senior show was just amazing with the amount of diverse works of all the hardworking artists I know. It's sad to see these graduates go, but they did so well, it made me excited for my own senior show soon!

The ceramics students are such a big loving community and witnessing their works of objects that can be used was so fascinating. The sculpture class created so many different costumes, one of my very good friends made fun costumes that needed some help with during the parade. I was happy to be a part of the experience.

It's one thing to see other people's work displayed, but it's another thing to see your own work being placed next to other great artists. It definitely showed my hard work through the process of setting it all up and having others observe and admire it. It felt very celebratory.

These loft mates have been very welcoming towards me when I first got a studio space earlier this semester. they are what made my experience this semester so positive and fun. It's sad to see some of the graduating seniors in this picture go, but I know I can always look back at this picture and reminisce about the great memories we have made together with all the difficult and hard assignments we've gone through together.
